Michael Byrne - Principal ADVISOR

Michael is a Principal Advisor at SmedTech and has over 20 years’ experience in traffic engineering, transport planning and modelling in local government, consulting and industry. Michael provides a commercial focus to the development and delivery of transport projects with experience in communicating complex traffic and revenue relationships through to key decision makers including at executive levels. During his career, Michael has led teams across a range of project types from impact assessments through to facilitating the development of city shaping infrastructure projects.

Michael has extensive experience in the toll road sector - from the development of traffic and revenue forecasts, asset and project valuations through to operational traffic and transport planning across toll roads in Australia and the United States. Since joining SmedTech Michael has been providing specialist tolling demand and revenue advice for a range of major toll road projects across both Victoria and Queensland. This builds on 10 years’ experience working at both AECOM and GHD, as well as 7 years at Transurban - providing traffic and revenue forecasting and project valuation across assets and projects in Australia and the United States.
